Federal Highway Police agents seized 2.5 kilograms of cocaine on Monday night. The drug was hidden in the wheels of two market carts that were being transported in the external luggage compartment of a bus.
The bus was stopped on BR-116 Highway, at the height of Sapucaia, in the South-Central region of Rio de Janeiro state. The Dog Operations Group (GOC-RJ) team was conducting routine inspection when drug detection dogs indicated the presence of the drug in the carts.
A foreign passenger, suspected of being the owner of the cargo, was arrested in the act. During the stop, the suspect told police that he had picked up the drug in São Paulo and would deliver it in Copacabana, in Rio's South Zone.
