The Sintra Police Division of the PSP arrested a 37-year-old man in Mem Martins on suspicion of the crime of illegal possession of prohibited weapons. Officers were on patrol when they spotted the suspect, who upon noticing the police presence showed signs of nervousness and immediately headed to a trash bin where he deposited an object.
Given the suspicious behavior, authorities approached the individual and checked the contents of the trash bin, finding a firearm inside. During a search of the suspect, officers also located a second firearm, of 7.65 mm caliber, as well as two ammunition rounds, which were seized.
The man was arrested and notified to appear before the competent Judicial Authority, for the purposes of the first judicial interrogation.
