One of the pilots involved in the accident with an Amazon cargo plane on Sunday afternoon jumped from the burning aircraft shortly after landing at Miami International Airport. The escape was captured on video, showing the pilot falling to the ground and quickly moving away limping, while spectators watched in horror the violence of the accident, which resulted in five deaths.
The Boeing 767 skidded down the runway at a speed of about 207 km/h. In the captured images, it is possible to see the moment when the pilot managed to escape from the cockpit while the plane was rapidly engulfed in flames.
民航 Olvin Henriquez, who recorded the scene while passing by with his four-month-old daughter, said he was shocked by the tragedy unfolding a few meters away. "It was shocking to witness all that," Henriquez told NBC Miami, describing having unexpectedly seen the pilot jump through the cabin door and run to save his life while the aircraft caught fire.
