Elderly man followed and assaulted in Lisbon for a luxury watch that turned out to be a replica

TVI Notícias8 September 2026 at 14:16

An elderly man was followed and assaulted in Lisbon over a luxury watch that turned out to be a replica. The victim was sitting at a terrace when he caught the attention of two men, presumably because of the watch he was wearing.

On his way home, the two men attacked the elderly man, throwing him to the ground and beating him. After the assault, the men robbed the victim, taking the watch and other belongings.

The case highlights how the appearance of luxury goods can make people vulnerable to crime, even when the objects in question are replicas and don't have the real value they appear to have.
