The defendant, accused of 36 fraud crimes of the "Hello dad, hello mom" type, appeared in silence at the Judicial Court of Leiria. With the use of an interpreter for translation, the man stated that he did not intend to make statements during the trial.
This type of scam consists of telephone calls where the perpetrator contacts the victim, usually elderly, simulating being a relative in an emergency situation, frequently requesting money or urgent bank transfers.
After the defendant's decision to remain silent, the court session continued with the hearing of witnesses listed in the case.
The trial continues to take place at the Court of Leiria, where the procedural steps related to this case of computer crime and qualified fraud are being carried out.
