Fuel prices in Portugal are rising at historic rates, approaching 2.30 euros per liter at some stations. This week, new increases are expected to be around 10 to 12 cents per liter, continuing a trend that has been observed since the beginning of the Iran conflict escalation.
The Portuguese Association of Distribution Companies (APED) expressed concern about the impact of these increases. The entity warns that when diesel and gasoline prices rise, this has repercussions across the entire distribution sector, making supermarket shopping more expensive.
According to the article, proteins are the products most affected by this increase in fuel costs, as the transportation of these goods becomes more expensive. APED has already been warning that going grocery shopping at the supermarket will become more expensive "sooner or later," as a result of this chain of effects on the cost of living.
