Rio's Civil Police indicted 13 people for the death of cyclist Cláudio Rafael Landeiro Moreira, 37 years old, beaten on Barata Ribeiro Street, in Copacabana, in Rio's South Zone, on August 12. Cláudio Rafael was mistaken for a robber and beaten with clubs.
Delegate Angelo Lages, head of the 12th Police Station (Copacabana), conducted the investigations and indicted the 13 suspects. Among them, five face charges of triple-qualified homicide, for the following qualifying factors: futile motive, use of cruel means, and resource that hindered or made it impossible for the victim to defend themselves.
The accused for homicide are: Davi dos Santos Machado, Jorge Luiz Ricardo Dias, Felipe Eduardo dos Santos Dias, Ailton José da Silva, and Wellignton Luiz Santos de Souza.
