India: start-up uses dogs and AI to detect cancer

Euronews Portugal8 September 2026 at 13:03

A start-up in India is combining the extremely keen sense of smell of dogs with artificial intelligence to test a new form of cancer screening.

The company is exploring the natural ability of dogs to detect odors associated with diseases, using this ability as a basis for a screening system.

Artificial intelligence is integrated into the process to analyze and process the data collected during the sessions with the dogs, looking for patterns that may indicate the presence of cancer.

This innovative approach represents a new screening method that takes advantage of the sensory abilities of animals combined with modern technology.
