Almost half of Portuguese fifteen-year-olds already use artificial intelligence tools to study, according to data from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). The study also reveals that many of these students get distracted during classes due to the use of digital devices.
PISA involved more than 760,000 students from 91 countries and economies, assessing the relationship of fifteen-year-old students with digital devices. The results show that Portuguese students spend, on average, one hour and 24 minutes per day at school using these devices to learn.
This time dedicated to digital learning in a school context falls below the average recorded in the OECD, which is one hour and 42 minutes. This means that, despite the high use of AI for studying, Portuguese students spend less time on digital activities at school compared to their peers in other developed countries.
