Pisa: 48% of Brazilian students use AI for schoolwork

Nearly half of Brazilian students already use artificial intelligence tools to do schoolwork. According to the report from the Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa), released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Tuesday (8), 48% of students said they use AI chatbots to help with their studies at least once a week.

This percentage is two points above the average of OECD member countries, which is 46%. Brazil, therefore, is slightly above the international average in the use of these technologies in the school environment.

The survey also revealed that the frequency of use varies according to the purpose of the task. Among Brazilian students, 40% said they use AI tools to do preliminary research on new topics, while the OECD average for this same purpose is 31%. Meanwhile, 31% of Brazilian students said they use AI to summarize texts they needed to read.
