On June 10, 2026, armed men with rifles, on foot and on motorcycles, advanced through the streets of the Caminho do Céu community, in Curicica, in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Using cell phones to film the action and then post it on social media, the bandits announced that the area was being taken from the militia by the Astro Team, from the Red Command (CV). The group, also known as the Chaos Team, is led by Rubens Mateus Lisboa Ribeiro, aka Astro, who has a warrant for his arrest.
The article addresses the Red Command's expansionist dispute in Rio de Janeiro, which relies on 'war men' responsible for invading territories controlled by rival groups. The CV uses these specialized teams to expand its area of influence through violence, attacking communities under the control of militiamen or other criminal factions.
On August 18, another leader of the Astro team, identified as Pierre Sá da Silva, aka PQD, died in an exchange of gunfire with officers in Gardênia Azul, in Jacarepaguá. An investigation was opened at the Repression Police Station to investigate the case, showing that the actions of these teams generate frequent confrontations with security forces.
