Portugal created 36,124 companies since January, but almost eight thousand have already closed

Portugal created 36,124 companies since January, according to the Informa D&B Barometer. However, almost eight thousand of these companies have already ceased activity in the same period.

The Construction sector was the one that grew the most in this indicator in 2026. 5,398 companies were created in this area, representing a significant increase compared to the previous period.

This sector now occupies the second position among the sectors with the highest number of new incorporations in absolute terms, reflecting the dynamics of the Portuguese market at the beginning of the year.

The Informa D&B Barometer is the source responsible for collecting and analyzing this data on the creation and closure of companies in Portugal.
