The Public Prosecutor's Office announced today having accused two men, aged 32 and 42, and a company based in Spain, of crimes of aiding illegal immigration and recruitment of illegal labor. The accusations refer to activities in the municipality of Elvas.
The two defendants are suspected of facilitating the illegal entry and stay of foreign citizens in Portugal, as well as of recruiting labor without the necessary documentation to work legally in the country.
The Spanish company is also a defendant in the case, indicating that the business structure may have been involved in the illicit activities of migratory facilitation and labor exploitation.
The case was revealed by the Public Prosecutor's Office itself, which presented the accusations against the three defendants within the scope of an investigation into illegal immigration networks and clandestine labor in the region of Elvas, in the district of Portalegre.
