Elton John performed at Rock in Rio on September 7th, in one of the most anticipated shows of the edition, which was also one that sold out. The British singer, at 79 years old, took the stage in a presentation that could have been a farewell to the Brazilian audience, since there was no certainty if there would be another chance to see him up close.

Elton John retired from touring in 2023, after a five-year tour. The artist stated he was tired and needed to spend more time with his family, but made clear that his love for music would make him make some exceptions for future performances.

This was not the first time Elton John performed at Rock in Rio. He had already performed at the festival on two other occasions, in 2011 and 2015. During one of the moments of the presentation, the singer revealed he wanted to go to Rock in Rio as a thank you to the Brazilian fans.

Exhibition recovers images and memories of Porto Santo

Over 130 old photographs, produced between the late 19th century and the 1970s, are brought together in the exhibition "Images and Memory of the Municipality of Porto Santo," which opens to the public on September 17 at the Porto Santo Town Hall. Promoted by the Regional Directorate of Archives, Libraries, and Books, through the Atlantic History Studies Centre, the exhibition is organized into seven thematic nuclei — including "Coastal Landscapes," "Summer Island and Beach Resort," and "Water" — and portrays the island's evolution from historical isolation and water scarcity to tourist development. The exhibition, which runs until December 31, is part of the project "Images and Memory of the Municipalities of Madeira," launched in 2019 in the celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the Discovery.
