Goodbye to bad smells in the fridge? Some people use cork stoppers and here is what ASAE recommends

A homemade trick suggesting placing cork stoppers inside the fridge to eliminate bad odors has been circulating for years, but ASAE does not recommend this practice. The authority warns that cork does not work as an effective moisture absorber, as it is a material impermeable to liquids and gases. Instead, ASAE recommends keeping the fridge at a temperature between 3°C and 4°C, regularly cleaning the interior, storing food in closed and well-protected containers, avoiding raw foods coming into contact with cooked ones, and not overfilling the appliance. If bad odors appear, the priority should be to identify the source of the problem, such as spoiled food or spills, rather than trying to mask the smell.

Union admits it may maintain strike after receiving counter-proposal from INEM

The Union of Pre-Hospital Emergency Workers (STEPH) considered that the counter-proposal presented by INEM deviates from the workers' demands, particularly regarding 56 ambulances that the institute intends to also assign to inter-hospital transfers, when the initial agreement was only for direct care to citizens. The president of STEPH, Rui Lázaro, said that the union has already informed the Minister of Health and is trying to schedule a meeting this week to try to cancel the strike scheduled for September 14 and 28, but stated that, with what is on the table, there are no conditions to suspend the strike. The union demands that INEM maintain and reinforce the current emergency response and abandon the transformation of immediate life support ambulances into light vehicles.
