Controversy over Seinfeld at Commedia a La Carte Fest tests the limits of Meo's "Humaniza-te"

The Meo Commedia a La Carte Fest, taking place in Lisbon between October 29 and November 1 at Meo Arena, with Jerry Seinfeld as headliner, is facing a crisis after several artists cancelled their performances due to the controversial positions of the American comedian on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Carolina Deslandes, Bárbara Tinoco, Inês Aires Pereira, the duo Cebola Mole, Pedro Tochas and artist Vhils announced their withdrawal, putting pressure on Meo as sponsor. Communication specialists consulted by +M analyze how the brand should manage this controversy, with José Franco (Corpcom) defending that the brand should not react to media pressure and that sponsoring a cultural event does not imply taking a political position, while Maria Domingas Carvalhosa (Wisdom Consulting) warns that prolonged silence is risky and that Meo's "Humaniza-te" tagline now functions as a reputational contract that demands consistency between what the brand says and what it does.
