The General Inspectorate of Health Activities (IGAS) is moving forward with an inspective action at Hospital de Almada following the suspension of the Voluntary Pregnancy Termination (IVG) services at this health unit. The process was triggered to investigate how the decision to close the unwanted pregnancy consultation was carried out. The inspection also aims to evaluate the organization of care that will be provided to women affected by this decision. The hospital will have to account for the conditions under which the service was closed and how it is ensuring access for patients to adequate healthcare.
