The improvement works on the IP8, which included the construction of road bypasses in the localities of Figueira dos Cavaleiros, in the municipality of Ferreira do Alentejo, and in Beringel, in the municipality of Beja, were inaugurated on Tuesday, the 8th, by the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Hugo Espírito Santo. The ceremony in Figueira dos Cavaleiros took place at 10:00 am, followed an hour later by the unveiling of the bypass in Beringel.
The interventions were funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), representing a total investment of over 70 million euros. The works were promoted by the company Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).
According to IP, the works carried out on the IP8 contribute very significantly to improving the conditions of mobility and road safety on this important road axis. The new bypasses will also have a very relevant impact on diverting through traffic from the localities of Figueira dos Cavaleiros and Beringel.
