The leader of Euronext Lisbon considered that the new stock exchange rules are "just part of the solution" for the Portuguese capital market. The CEO believes that the revision of the Securities Code represents a "relevant step in the right direction", acknowledging the progress achieved with this legislative change.
However, the executive warned that there is still a lot of work to be done to attract more small and medium-sized companies to the national market. The attraction of SMEs remains one of the major challenges of the Portuguese market, which needs more measures to boost this sector.
The revision of the Securities Code comes in the context of efforts to modernize and boost the capital market in Portugal, making it more accessible and attractive for national companies, particularly for the SME segment that has traditionally relied less on stock exchange financing.
