Pagode singer Péricles brought an unexpected repertoire to Rock in Rio 2026: classics from Motown Records, which achieved success in the 1960s and 1970s with Black music in the United States. The choice was considered unusual at first, but ended up being well received by the audience present at the City of Rock.
Among the great classics presented were "My Girl," "I Want You Back," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," and to close, Stevie Wonder's "Superstition." The show also featured songs by Jackson 5 and Marvin Gaye, iconic Motown artists.
Initially there was some skepticism in the air, but the audience gradually got into it and started singing along to each of the great songs. In the back of the event, it was possible to see some spectators doing choreography and little dances during the performances.
The idea behind the show is aligned with the historical purpose of Rock in Rio, which has always valued the mixing of musical styles and the diversity of genres in its lineup.
