Over 2,000 schedules still to be filled in schools

dnoticias.pt7 September 2026 at 19:07

One week before the start of classes, more than two thousand schedules remain to be filled in Portuguese schools. The Minister of Education, Fernando Alexandre, stated that there is availability of teachers to fill these positions, but the placement process is still underway.

The statements were made on the sidelines of the presentation of a study on higher professional technical courses (CTESP), which took place at the Thalia Theatre, in Lisbon.

Fernando Alexandre deferred a more detailed assessment of the situation to the end of the week, when another teacher placement competition will take place.

The minister did not specify in which regions or education levels the unfilled schedules are concentrated, nor which subject areas are most affected by this situation.
