Government denies taking advantage of fuel price increases and strengthens ERSE's powers

The Government considered today that the accusation that it is profiting from the rise in fuel prices is unjust. The ministry rejected this accusation and defended its position regarding the evolution of prices in the energy sector.

The executive simultaneously announced the reinforcement of ERSE's powers, the Energy Services Regulatory Authority. This reinforcement focuses especially on the sanctioning powers of the regulatory entity.

With this measure, the Government intends to strengthen supervision and inspection of the energy sector, giving ERSE more instruments to act in case of irregularities or problematic practices in the market.
