A man died after being hit by a train on Monday morning, near Cosmos station, in Rio de Janeiro's West Zone. The accident occurred around 10:30 AM on the railroad track between Inhoaíba and Cosmos stations, on the Santa Cruz line.
Military police officers from the Railway Policing Unit (GPFer) were called to the scene and found the victim already dead. The area was cordoned off for the forensic work, and the case was registered at the 35th Police District (Campo Grande).
Fire department teams from the Santa Cruz station removed the body from the accident scene.
In a statement, TrensRJ expressed condolences and reported that their agents were called after the man illegally accessed the railway line. The concession was not renewed in the available portion of the message.
