Badajoz advances with 1,913 million data center near the Alentejo border

The Junta de Extremadura granted prior administrative authorization to the electrical infrastructures that will serve the Nostrum Evergreen Data Center, a project promoted by the company Data Riocaya, SLU, with a planned investment of 1,913,163,000 euros. The resolution from the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines, dated August 26, was published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura on September 7, 2026.

The project foresees the creation of 330 jobs and a grid access capacity that may reach 300 MW. The authorized electrical infrastructure includes a 400/220 kV connection substation, two underground high voltage lines at 220 kV with extensions of approximately 3,342 and 3,276 meters, and an own substation for the data center of 220/20 kV, initially equipped with six power transformers.

The Nostrum Evergreen Data Center had received, in November 2025, the classification of Autonomous Regional Business Project of Interest (PREMIA), through Decree 151/2025. The spokesperson for the Junta de Extremadura, Elena Manzano, pointed to 2031 as the estimated horizon for the completion of the sustainable data computing and artificial intelligence center.

The enterprise will be built in the Southwest European Logistics Platform, in Badajoz, in a border corridor with Elvas that assumes particular relevance for the Alentejo territory. The decision now published does not represent the start of construction works, but rather the authorization of the essential electrical infrastructures for supplying the future complex, with other components remaining subject to administrative procedures.

RA5 reinforces its role in the training of Unmanned Aerial Systems operators

Artillery Regiment No. 5 (RA5) completed the 2nd RAVEN B DDL Unmanned Aerial System Operator Course of 2026, training three military personnel between August 10 and September 4.
