Cortaderia, also known as pampas grass, continues to expand in Portugal, having already colonized more than 200 municipalities across the country. The invasive plant can be seen along roadsides, in gardens and public spaces, occupying more and more Portuguese territory.
Experts warn of the environmental risks associated with the species, which poses a threat to local biodiversity. Beyond ecosystem damage, the plant has significant allergenic potential, also endangering the health of the population.
