On the morning of Monday, September 7th, a holiday, Romeu Zema, candidate from Novo for president and former governor of Minas Gerais, held a campaign event on Paulista Avenue in São Paulo. During the event, he criticized the ministers of the Supreme Federal Court and defended changes in the way members of the court are chosen.

Zema proposed that the appointment of judges to the STF be made through a shortlist of three candidates, prepared by bodies such as the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), the Public Ministry, or the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The candidate stated that he would have no fear in receiving a shortlist of three candidates prepared by these institutions.

The politician declared that he would deliver the list to the president of the Republic, who would choose one of the names presented. Zema was accompanied by members of his campaign team during the event on Paulista.
