Mixed commission in the National Congress approves MP regarding INSS queue

extra7 September 2026 at 17:00

A mixed commission composed of senators and deputies approved last Tuesday the Provisional Measure (MP) 1,369/2026, which aims to reduce the INSS queue. This commission was specifically created to analyze the matter and gave a favorable opinion on the extension of the Benefit Management Program (PGB).

The PGB was created in 2025 with the purpose of reducing the waiting time for the analysis of requests and medical examinations. The MP expanded the original scope of the program, establishing that not only long-standing backlogged requests would have priority, but also processes pending for more than 30 days or with expired judicial deadlines for granting or review.

With this expansion, a greater number of requests became covered by the measure, allowing more beneficiaries to be served. The program helped the INSS significantly reduce the waiting queue.

Despite the progress in reducing the queue, the program brought with it an increase in the number of denials. On the other hand, there was also growth in benefit grants and reviews, indicating that the program had mixed results in terms of outcomes for the insured.
