The Kremlin confirmed that a phone call occurred between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. This communication took place after a visit by US special envoys to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.
The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitri Peskov, commented on the importance of this diplomatic contact, considering that it represents "a small step towards peace". This was the first direct conversation between the two leaders since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.
The phone call comes at a time of heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with international diplomatic efforts intensifying in recent months to try to find a solution to the prolonged conflict.
