Guimarães receives National Urban Cleaning Meeting

Guimarães hosts from this Tuesday the 8th National Urban Cleaning Meeting (ENLU), an initiative that brings together municipalities, companies, technicians, political decision-makers and specialists to discuss the challenges of cleaning and public space management.

The event takes place at MitPenha until September 10, with the motto "[De]constructing the future". The meeting proposes an in-depth reflection on the urban cleaning sector, addressing issues related to the maintenance and hygiene of public spaces in Portugal.

Tomar approves two-euro tourist tax and estimates raising 300 thousand euros per year

The Municipal Chamber of Tomar unanimously approved the final version of the tourist tax regulation of two euros per overnight stay, estimating to raise around 300 thousand euros per year. The value results from approximately 150 thousand annual overnight stays (after exemptions), and the revenue will be destined for the maintenance of public space, tourist promotion and cultural support. The regulation raises from 12 to 13 years the minimum age for application of the tax and provides for exemptions, including for pilgrims. The proposal now goes to voting at the Municipal Assembly and subsequent publication in the Official Gazette.
