The European Union's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, today expressed concern about the growth within the bloc of parties that are "blind to the threats" from Russia. This position came after the victory of the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) in elections in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt.
Kallas made these statements during a press conference in Vilnius, as part of a visit to Lithuania. The High Representative was asked what the AfD's victory represents for the EU.
In her response, the chief of European diplomacy expressed her concern regarding the increase in parties in the European space that demonstrate they are not aware of the threats coming from Russia.
