Portuguese 'avoid' this car? Model went from 1,231 sales in June to just one in August

The Tesla Model 3 registered only one new registration in Portugal in August, after July ended with just three units registered. This result contrasts drastically with the model's performance in previous months, which allowed the Model 3 to maintain fifth place among the best-selling automobiles in the country in the first eight months of the year, with a cumulative total of 3,719 registrations.

The cumulative volume was mainly sustained by May and June, months when 1,047 and 1,231 units were registered, respectively, representing 61.25% of the annual total. This concentration contrasts with the sudden drop recorded in July and August, which together totaled just four units.

The comparison with the previous year also shows a significant decline. In August 2025, the Model 3 had recorded 158 registrations, and in July of that year 102. In the corresponding months of 2026, the figures fell to one and three units. Despite this recent decline, the balance for the first eight months remains above that recorded in the same period last year.

During this period, the Portuguese market already had the Model 3 Standard, introduced at the end of 2025 as the most affordable version of the model, with a price of 37,975 euros and a range of 572 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.
