The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked South Korea not to participate in operations in the Strait of Hormuz and not to yield to pressure from the United States. The request was made through an official statement.
South Korea clarified that it is considering contributing to navigation security in the Strait of Hormuz. However, Seoul assures that no decision has been made so far.
The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway in the Gulf region, through which a large portion of global maritime traffic passes. Tensions in the region have been increasing recently.
