Mafra | Start of the Academic Year 2026/2027 at Schools in the Municipality

The municipality of Mafra is preparing for the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, with the return of thousands of children and young people to the education and teaching establishments in the territory. The preparation of the new school year is already underway, with the traditional Reception for Teachers having taken place, an event that brought together over 600 teachers and educators from the municipality's schools. The Mafra Municipal Council promoted this meeting, providing space and catering services at a municipal investment of €19,595.10.

The academic year officially begins on September 15, 2026, the date when all children and students return to classes according to their schedules. On the previous day, September 14, receptions for new students take place at the different education and teaching establishments in the municipality, especially aimed at children who will be attending Preschool Education and students in the 1st Year of schooling for the first time.

The Mafra School Grouping and the Venda do Pinheiro School Grouping present detailed schedules for the reception of new students. At Mafra Basic School, the reception for 5th-year students is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on September 14, and parents and guardians may accompany their children. At the Venda do Pinheiro Grouping, preschool and primary school students have specific schedules between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the same day.

The Ericeira School Grouping does not have information available about the start of the academic year. José Saramago Secondary School presents a differentiated calendar, with vocational courses starting on September 14 and science-humanities courses beginning on September 21. The Professor Armando de Lucena School Grouping, in Malveira, makes the academic year 26/27 schedules available for consultation on its website.
