Lula participates in the September 7th parade with Fachin, Motta and Alcolumbre, but the STF wing closest to the president should be absent

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva participates on this Monday morning in the September 7th parade in Brasília. Present are the presidents of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), and of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), as well as the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues. Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and several government ministers, such as Miriam Belchior, Dario Durigan, Jorge Messias and Sidônio Palmeira, also accompany the event.

With the STF in crisis, the wing of ministers closest to President Lula is not expected to attend the parade. All Court members were invited, as is customary, but the absence of this group is anticipated. Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who participated in the event in 2024, is in a conflict with colleague André Mendonça and is not expected to participate this year.

Gilmar Mendes and Flávio Dino are out of Brasília and will not attend the event, as will Cristiano Zanin. These four ministers make up the group with the greatest communication with President Lula within the STF, and their absences mark the tension between the court and the Executive.

The crisis at the STF, which motivated the absence of these ministers, is a relevant backdrop for the event. While Fachin, who chairs the Court, attended alongside Lula, the internal division among the ministers reflects the current political and institutional difficulties faced by the court.

Start of the school year in Castellón

Education Councillor Carmen Ortí presented this Monday the main lines for the beginning of the 2026/27 school year in the province of Castellón, which has 98,958 students, 820 more than the previous year. This data contrasts with the general decline in the Valencian Community, which starts with 808,688 students, 955 fewer than the previous year. The presentation was structured around four axes (teaching staff, students, families and employment and opportunities) with improvements that include the reduction of bureaucracy, the increase in teaching staff, the decrease in coverage ratios and the boost to infrastructure with 8 centers in operation in the province.
