AfD demands support to govern after overwhelming victory in Saxony-Anhalt

Alternative for Germany (AfD) won 43.8% of the votes in Saxony-Anhalt, achieving an overwhelming victory in the regional elections. Despite the expressive result, the far-right party fell three seats short of an absolute majority in the regional parliament.

The AfD's regional leader, whose name is not mentioned in the article, declared he has a "clear mandate to govern" after the election results were announced. However, without an absolute majority, the party needs support from other political forces to form a government.
