The Public Prosecutor accused a couple of committing 49 crimes of sexual abuse of a minor, the daughter of the female defendant, who at the time of the facts was 13 years old, in Montemor-o-Novo, district of Évora. The two defendants, a 56-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, are accused of 24 aggravated crimes of child sexual abuse and 20 aggravated crimes of sexual abuse of a dependent minor, in joint authorship.
The man is also accused of three aggravated crimes of child pornography and one aggravated crime of child pimping. According to the indictment, the defendant lived in a de facto union with the female defendant, at least since April 2025, and with her knowledge and consent, sexually abused his stepdaughter, who lived with both of them, through the practice of significant sexual acts. The suspect filmed the acts and made offers of money to the victim for the practice of the criminal conduct.
On March 4th of this year, the Judicial Police detained the couple for these crimes. The investigation was conducted by the Local Criminal Investigation Unit of Évora, based on a report made by the school. At the time of the arrest, the PJ indicated that there were suspicions regarding two teenage girls, aged 13 and 14, daughters of the female defendant. The Évora Judicial Court decreed preventive detention for both, with the man being taken to the Elvas Prison Establishment and the woman to the Tires Prison Establishment.
The inquiry was directed by the 2nd specialized section of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Évora. In the indictment now published, the MP refers only to one victim, the girl who was then 13 years old, and states that the deadline for a possible opening of the instruction phase is ongoing.
