The US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, after having held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The meetings did not result in an agreement, but were considered "encouraging" by Washington.
The United States continues to try to bring closer the positions of Ukraine and Russia, in a diplomatic effort that involves contacts with both leaders. However, fighting on the ground continues, maintaining the active conflict situation.
International tension around the conflict increased with a new incident between Germany and Russia. Berlin held Moscow responsible for a drone incident at Leipzig airport, which worsened relations between the two countries.
