Seven districts of mainland Portugal are under yellow warning due to heat. The warning was issued for the districts of Beja, Castelo Branco, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Setúbal and Portalegre.
The yellow warning is the second lowest level of a three-level meteorological danger scale, indicating conditions that may pose some risk to certain activities. This type of warning is frequently issued during periods of high temperatures in the Portuguese summer.
The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection recommends that the population adopt precautionary measures during these hotter days, such as avoiding sun exposure during the hours of greatest intensity, staying hydrated and watching over vulnerable people such as the elderly and children.
