IPMA places seven districts under yellow warning until 21:00 due to heat

The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued a yellow warning for hot weather for seven districts of mainland Portugal, valid until 21:00 this Monday. The districts covered are Beja, Castelo Branco, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Setúbal and Portalegre, due to high maximum temperature values.

The yellow warning is the least severe on a three-level scale and is issued when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.

For today on the mainland, IPMA forecasts periods of partly cloudy or clear skies, temporarily cloudy on the North and Central coast. A slight decrease in minimum temperature is forecast for the interior and a slight increase in the Algarve leeward side.

Minimum temperatures will range between 15 degrees Celsius in Bragança and 24 degrees in Faro, while maximum temperatures should be between 25 degrees in Aveiro and 38 degrees in Beja.
