Elton John returns to Rock in Rio for a show at 11 PM this Monday (7th), at the Palco Mundo stage. This will be the third time the artist performs at the festival, after appearances in 2011 and 2015, in quite different performances from one another.
The first time Sir Elton John took the Palco Mundo stage was on September 23, 2011. That night, the festival also featured Katy Perry and Rihanna as acts on the same stage. The British singer brought to the event a repertoire full of classics, including songs like "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting," "I'm Still Standing," "Tiny Dancer," "Philadelphia Freedom," "Rocket Man," "Bennie and the Jets," and "Crocodile Rock."
However, the performance was marked by problems with the audience. A significant part of the audience showed greater interest in the attraction that would come next, Rihanna, who would close the night. During Elton John's show, there were shouts and requests for the Barbadian singer, which ended up affecting the show's atmosphere.
The bad behavior from part of the audience caused Elton John's show to end earlier than planned. This experience contrasts with the expectation of his return to the festival in 2024, this time in presumably different circumstances.
