Estremoz celebrates 100 years as a city with exhibition that spans a century of history

It was inaugurated on Saturday, September 5, at the Bernardim Ribeiro Theater, in Estremoz, the exhibition "Centenary of the Elevation of Estremoz to City 1926-2026", which marks the 100 years of Estremoz's elevation to city status and invites visitors on a journey through the history and evolution of the municipality over the last century.

The exhibition brings together different moments and memories from Estremoz's recent history, allowing visitors to recall the transformations experienced by the city and learn more about the journey that marked several generations of Estremoz residents. At the inauguration ceremony, a commemorative CTT Postal Entire commemorating the Centenary of the Elevation of Estremoz to City was also presented.

The exhibition will be open to the public until December 31, 2026, providing residents and visitors with the opportunity to learn about or review different chapters of local history. A catalog of the exhibition is also available for purchase, allowing for deeper knowledge about the presented contents.

The celebration of the 100 years of Estremoz's elevation to city status stands as a moment of valorization of identity, memory, and local heritage.
