Canal N – Notícias – Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro6 September 2026 at 14:49

A new notice from the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan (PEPAC) is open to support the modernization of existing collective irrigation infrastructure, with the aim of reducing water losses and improving the energy efficiency of the systems. Applications can be submitted until November 30, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

The support covers interventions such as the repair and modernization of channels and pipelines, improvement of distribution networks, pumping stations and drainage systems, as well as agricultural roads and acquisition of equipment aimed at reducing water and energy consumption. The support is directed at entities responsible for managing this infrastructure, including beneficiary associations, farmer associations, irrigation cooperatives and other eligible public or private entities.

The measure comes in a context of growing need for efficient use of water resources and aims to contribute to more functional, sustainable irrigation systems prepared for current environmental and energy demands. For rural territories, the modernization of these structures also represents an opportunity to strengthen agricultural productive capacity and improve the working conditions of farmers.
