A short-lived extreme weather phenomenon hit the district of Aveiro, causing hail to fall during a hot day. The ice stones caused significant damage in several areas of the region.
The hail mainly affected roofs of houses and vehicles that were on the public road. The most affected localities were Albergaria-a-Velha and Oliveira de Azeméis, where the main material damage was recorded.
The phenomenon, although brief, was intense enough to cause destruction to homes and cars. Local authorities will have assessed the damage caused by this unlikely storm on a day of high temperatures.
