The Tiago Cabaço Winery, a wine project from Estremoz, reached the national final of the 7 New Wonders of Portugal. The Alentejo candidacy, integrated in the 21st Century category, was selected in the National Semi-Final held last Saturday, on the 5th, at the National Palace of Sintra, winning the public vote to secure a place among the 21 finalist projects.
The winery is one of the three Alentejo candidacies still in the competition, with the region also represented by the Amoreira Aqueduct, in the Monuments category, and by the Ruins of São Cucufate, in the Cultural Heritage category. The National Semi-Final featured the participation of 49 national semi-finalists, with public voting determining which candidacies proceed to the final phase.
For the Tiago Cabaço Winery, the passage to the final represents public recognition of a project that has been establishing itself from Estremoz, enhancing Alentejo's wine identity and projecting the territory beyond the region.
Expectations are now focused on the National Grand Final, taking place on September 12th, where the 21 selected projects will compete for the title of one of the 7 New Wonders of Portugal.
