The Fermentões Farmer's Festival ends today with the Ethnographic Parade, one of the highlights of the celebration. The parade sets off at 3:30 PM from Alameda Alfredo Pimenta, in the centre of Guimarães city, and then follows the route to Fermentões. At the end, there is a planned gathering of concertina players, in a moment of music and popular celebration.
The festival has been held since 1977 and is considered one of the major cultural landmarks of the municipality of Guimarães, attracting thousands of visitors from the northern region every year.
The aim of the festival is to showcase the traditions, tools, and instruments linked to agricultural life. To this end, the programme includes initiatives such as the Folk Festival, the Livestock Show, and the Ethnographic Parade itself.
