The Arouca Film Festival has 40 works in competition this year, covering films from various parts of the world. The event brings together works from filmmakers already established in the film industry, as well as from young promises of the sector.
The festival director, João Rita, describes the showcase as broad and diverse, highlighting the quality of the participants. According to the director, the event allows visibility for both established authors and emerging new talents in cinema.
The festival takes place in Arouca, a Portuguese municipality also known for its natural heritage, including the famous 516 Arouca Bridge. The program competes annually to attract both local audiences and visitors interested in cinematographic art.
