House prices for renting in Portugal increased 4.9% in August compared to the same month the previous year, according to data from the Idealista portal. However, this evolution was not uniform across the country, with the Algarve recording a much higher increase than the national average.
In the district of Faro, rents soared 22.8% year-on-year, representing the largest variation among the districts analyzed. At the end of August, the median price per square meter was 21.3 euros, meaning that renting a dwelling with 80 square meters could cost about 1,704 euros per month.
With these values, Faro positions itself as the second most expensive district in the country for renting, only behind Lisbon. The difference between the behavior of the Algarve market and the national average is striking, especially when compared to the 4.9% increase recorded across the country.
