The trains returned to running on the entire Beira Baixa line from September 20th. Rail traffic had been interrupted due to two landslides that affected 120 metres of the track.
IP – Infra-estruturas de Portugal was the entity responsible for managing the line and for the decision to keep approximately 50 kilometres of track closed during the repair period.
The recovery works made it possible to resolve the problems caused by the two landslides on the railway infrastructure, enabling the restoration of traffic on the entire line.
The reopening of the Beira Baixa line represents the end of a period of restrictions that affected railway services in that region of the country.
