'Vile' practice? AMC and Robinhood leaders exchange accusations over tokenized shares

Jornal de Negócios5 September 2026 at 17:00

Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment, and Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, are involved in a public exchange of accusations. The controversy began when the Robinhood broker allowed the sale of tokenized AMC shares on its platform, which sparked Aron's fury.

The entertainment giant's leader, who controls the largest chain of movie theaters in the United States and cable TV channels, used harsh terms to criticize the practice. Aron classified the action as "despicable, outrageous, repulsive, detestable, unforgivable and vile," demonstrating his strong displeasure with the broker's decision.

In response, Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, adopted a more interrogative tone. When questioned about the controversy, he simply asked "What's the concern?", suggesting he sees no problem with the trading of AMC tokenized shares on his platform.

The war between the two executives gained public attention through social media and press statements, exposing the conflict between a major entertainment company and one of the most popular brokers among retail investors.
