ASAE seized 20,226 liters of wine from a producer-wholesaler in the municipality of Gouveia, during an operation carried out under the "Rótulo Seguro" action. The seized wine, which included red, white and rosé wine, was bottled and ready to be commercialized.
The reason for the seizure was non-compliance with labeling rules, specifically the absence of the indication of the wine's origin on the labels. This information is mandatory for the legal commercialization of wine products.
ASAE is the Food and Economic Safety Authority, the body responsible for the supervision and regulation of food and economic safety in Portugal. The "Rótulo Seguro" action is an initiative by this authority dedicated to verifying compliance with labeling standards for food products.
